Have you ever wondered what a modern Legend of Zelda game would be like? Well it would certainly not be like this because this is an alternate universe (which I created), but that is how I thought of this. I hope you enjoy!
(P.S.: The alternate universe is basically Hyrule, many, MANY years in the future. Its become like modern countries in our world, except they are still run by a monarchy. I took the characters from past games and remixed them into their new roles in this universe. Some of them are descendants of past characters, while others are completely separate from their name-sakes. I guess you can just assume the Zelda timeline is mostly unchanged, though must of it, by this time, is... Just a Legend haha...)

Link, his two brothers, his sister, and his father have all just moved from their homeland to the neighboring country of Hyrule. Whenever Link is enrolled in high school, he begins to meet an interesting cast of friends. Even more so, he discovers a mysterious birthmark upon his hand..
When a dangerous and poisonous fog with unknown origins appears throughout the country, a stay-at-home order is issued. Strangely, this has quite a lot to do with Link and his new friends...
The Legend of Zelda and its characters are not mine. They belong to Nintendo.

They named the first daughter Zelda, hoping the Goddess Hylia would answer their prayers and keep the tradition of her unlocked the sacred power to seal Calamity Ganon. The second daughter, (Y/n), was hidden from the public eye at the request of the King. Zelda spent almost her whole life with government studies and prayer being stuffed into her face, her personal passions being frowned upon. (Y/n), on the other hand, had no duties to fulfill and instead studied alongside her sister, became a knight, and made a certain special friend. Despite having a place among those she's closest to, she still feels confused, as if something in her life quite hasn't clicked into place yet... ...that is, until her entire world crumbles whenever she realizes that her true purpose is that of which her sister had been promised her entire life. Hyrule is threatened once again by Zant and Ganondorf, newly crowned, Queen Zelda is on the verge of surrender, and Link, the hero from Ordon Village is called for aid. Upon arriving at Castle Town, Link is immediately overwhelmed by the forces of monsters that have forced the townsfolk into hiding. He realizes that he will not defeat Hyrule's foes without help so he sets off for Kakariko Village to find allies. Y/n, a girl who lives in Kakariko Village was not well accepted in the village. You are an outsider, no one knows where you came from. Protecting those around you became something you dedicated yourself to. You trained yourself to fight in the graveyard for days until your body gave out and you'd start again. One day, Link finds you battling a lone goblin that has infiltrated the village by yourself. Impressed by your natural skill, he brings you along to gather more allies from all other villages. The more time the two of you spend with each other, you both slowly fall in love, then your deepest secret is revealed. *All character and village names go to Nintendo*

"He's the deadliest swordsman in all of Hyrule. The most skilled. He wields a blade of legend. You should be protecting me from him." By the time those words were uttered, it was already too late. The princess kept a wary eye on the half-eaten apple that he had set back down on his bedside writing desk. He seemed oblivious to the twisted symbolism of it all. Forbidden fruit. The poisoned apples of the fairytales that their governess read to them as children. Could he really be so blind? The people rejoiced in the streets of Castle Town. They made gracious offerings in the plowing fields of the southern provinces, nestled against the far stretches of Faron Woods. The Kingdom of Hyrule celebrated the newfound peace after the plight of the Twili, and the final death of Ganondorf. They looked to the skies and they saw a god. He became a vessel for their torment. He grieved for them. He carried their burden on his shoulders. The weight of that weapon, of which had singed its mark deeply into the palm of his hand, would never leave him. The hushed voices of the scorned spirits resonated within the blade, their whispers lilting and lamenting in his ears. Those damned voices dissipated everytime that seraph prince held him in his soft gaze.

When the three goddesses of the Triforce unintentionally grant the Princess of Hyrule the Triforce of Power, and the evil locked away from the world the Triforce of Wisdom, everything is in chaos as it was before, only it's the princess this time who's causing the trouble. Zelda had been power hungry for years. Years before the mark of the Triforce of Power appeared on the back of her hand, she'd always thrown fits if something didn't go her way. Now, at only seventeen and fully gifted with the Triforce of Power, she made sure things went her way, and her way only. Ganondorf had escaped the Sacred Realm somehow, and returns to the Gerudo Village in peace. Accidentally blessed with the Triforce of Wisdom, he acknowledges the Gerudo's hard work and thrives to make his village a better place for everyone. Link, still possessing the Triforce of Courage, has been assigned to be Zelda's personal bodyguard and do something horribly wrong to please her majesty, which he does not partake in ever doing. Fate brings Link and Ganondorf face to face. Somehow, Link and Ganondorf team up and secretly plot against the princess to stop her vile plans to make Hyrule miserable. No longer a hero, living a life of isolation far away from the land that had made him a legend once. Resentful and broken, Link hides it best he can, trying to focus on the future and forget. But Zelda remembers him, the person he once was. He's so different now, and perhaps she is too. The whole land is, transformed by war as Ganondorf works to seize all that he believes once belonged to him, in a time no longer.
