Amid a fraternity's blackface party and a police brutality scandal, Gotham City is introduced to a new super-criminal. This mysterious figure goes by Minstrel, and while he uses The Joker's motif and tactics, he has crafted his own identity and MO. Reclaiming blackface minstrel imagery, Minstrel's crimes serve as retaliation for anti-Blackness throughout Gotham City. Surely the Caped Crusader and his allies will defeat him, but what lasting impact will he have on Gotham City?
Equal parts pastiche and parody, A Maroon in Midnight Blue uses the mythos of the Caped Crusader to explore themes of the Afro-surreal. Recommended for fans of The Killing Joke and Endgame, but also Invisible Man and Beloved as well.

After getting fired from work by his incorrigible boss, Jackie is directed by a young university drop-out to the nearest underground casino for his most challenging game ever. You Never Cease To Amaze Me, Bats
At first, it was a regular night for Bruce as he went out through the night as the dark vigilante, Batman. As time ticked by, the night grew - stranger - beneath the bat signal's light, was a note. From the Joker. Months pass before Batman is seen out on the streets again. But he's different, strange. But most importantly, what is up with his eyes? ----- In this world, Batman doesn't have a Robin. He never has. He sticks to himself; even the Justice League don't see him. No one sees Batman without a mask except Alfred. Batman is darker, already slightly twisted in the head - he's spent his whole life, fighting people like the Joker, people who don't deserve his pity. So he doesn't give then them any. He holds grudges even beyond the memory of others. He hates asking for help. ----- "You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain."Complete
Robin and Finch
What do you do when you're a homeless kid on the streets of Gotham? Becoming a criminal is SO straight-forward, so how about something new? Dick Grayson and Wally West, or better known as Robin and Finch, are robbers with a seemingly random pattern and motive. But what happens when a Bat figures out it's not so random, and these teen-aged criminals are not as "bad" as they make themselves out to be? One Young Justice encounter later, and the pair fight for their lives; their lives as either criminals or what they can become. I don't own DC or any references made in this. I don't own the beautiful story cover so full rights to whoever owns what. Also, Birdflash. Don't like, don't read. My first story, so please don't hurt me. Also, cursing. Mature due to that, because better safe than sorry. Thanks and I really hope you like it.Complete

Urban Legend Has It...
In this anthology series, Nietzsche's Ubermensch comes to life. His hair is nappy, his nose is broad, and his complexion kissed by the sun. With a clap of her hands, she causes hurricanes. As her fingers snap, time slows. He can speak and create, and she can dream and destroy. The Superman is real, and they are an African. In this anthology series, we'll bear witness not to their epic exploits, but to the mundane melancholies of life in a world where Black kids can stop bullets, read minds, and fly. Welcome to the Afro-Future, today! Chapter 1: In "An Urban Legend Has It..." we meet Othello Richard Shannon, aka the super-speeding hero in a XXXL red hoodie, Dynamic! He didn't used to mind getting clowned in his civilian life since he has two A-One, Day-Ones that he can depend on to lift his spirits. But lately, this hero's been feeling like a third wheel. Chapter 2: In "The Stupendous Adventures of the Super Union" a team of superheroes gathers for the funeral of one of their own, Aspiration. Tensions run high as they discuss the impromptu sexual assault trial that led to Aspiration's death and the dismissal of one of their teammates. Chapter 3: In "Interrogation", young archivist Zaraz is asked to record and transcribe the interrogation of Regicide--the famous supervillain and archenemy of King Soul. The villain makes a lot of wild claims about King Soul's past, but surely they couldn't be true. Chapter 4: in "CRISIS of Faith" It wasn't easy for humanity to accept the existence of superhumans. But our narrator was lucky enough to be born in a time of peace between those with and those without powers. There are systems in place which help keep interactions running smoothly. That's the intention, at least.Complete

BATMAN: Black Mirror
"He's exactly like me - it's like looking in a mirror...and my reflection is cracked." ~Bruce Wayne A new darkness the likes of which the criminal underworld of Gotham City has never seen before since the rise of the Joker, stalks its streets every night. No crime escapes its sight and no one, innocent or guilty, is safe from its rage. It feeds and grows from shadows, becoming stronger with every sinister thought, every action and drop of spilt blood. It is a creature born from tragedy - but to Bruce Wayne, it's a mirror image. BATMAN: Black Mirror is an interconnecting tale of two people who come from different places in life, yet meet in the middle to reflect opposite sides of the same being. What would've happened to Bruce after his parents' murder if he didn't have Alfred to comfort him? What if he was left to fend for himself with no one to care? What choices would he have had to make in order to survive and would his already suffocating darkness grow deeper and mixed with an endless need for violence and revenge. These are the questions Bruce constantly asks himself, but they become more profound when he meets a young orphaned Eli sitting before the Wayne's graves. He's not like other children and it disturbs Bruce that the child seems to perfectly reflect the darkest parts of his soul.Complete
