Reclaiming blackface minstrel imagery, Minstrel's crimes serve as retaliation for anti-Blackness throughout Gotham City. Surely the Caped Crusader and his allies will defeat him, but what lasting impact will he have on Gotham City?
Equal parts pastiche and parody, A Maroon in Midnight Blue uses the mythos of the Caped Crusader to explore themes of the Afro-surreal. Recommended for fans of The Killing Joke and Endgame, but also Invisible Man and Beloved as well.
