Emma - a young and ambitious student - travels to Scotland for research on the last of the Jacobite Rebellions, the '45 to write her thesis about the topic.
As she finds herself stranded on an old road at night, she comes across something - a bright, powerful and ancient Magic - shrouded in mist.
In the morning, she discovers that she was mysteriously catapulted back in time to 1743, directly into the madness of the Eighteenth Century and its many lurking dangers...And runs into the arms of a young, Scottish Highlander named Taran...
