I know Qrow is actually mentioned as her uncle in RWBY but I believe he was only mentioned to be her uncle because of his semblance for bad luck. Anyway, this story is fairly different. Here, Ruby actually joined Salem in order to protect her friends but it doesn't work out the way she wanted and it's already too late to save her friends along with the rest of Remnant when Salem made her evil the way she made herself evil from the pool of grimm. Since then she tries everything to bring hope into the world. Adam is childhood friend; Neo is the same. Beacon is Ozpin trying to make an army of huntsmen and huntresses that obey him. Teachers and Professors are involved. Ozpin doesn't care for the lives of students due to them being expandable.
