Izuku is a curious person. The will to learn and question is the motivation that drives him.
At the early age of 4 he had learnt that not all men are equal, not when it comes to having a quirk.
At the age of 5 he had learnt that the dead are much better off than the living.
At the age of 6 he had learnt that the law of the universe is a life for a life in exchange for your soul.
The age of 7, he was first told he was insane. And maybe he really is insane, maybe all the bad things that happen in his life are deserved.

Its at the age of 8 that he first witnesses the death of a human and the rise of their soul.

Its at the age of 11 that he realises he killed her. He killed his mother.

Or, Izuku wakes up one day and finds out he can see ghosts. He wakes up another day and realises he can shove a soul into a body. Wakes up a third day, much to his displeasure and realises he's immortal.

Tw: Quite a lot of animal death and harm. Same with humans I guess. It's all just quite dark in general so keep that in mind while reading.

Aizawa: I made a mistake. I saw a kid struggling and labeled him a lost cause. I kicked him out of U.A. because I thought he was a danger-to others and to himself. But the truth is, I failed him. Hawks: You don't get many chances to find someone like him-someone who's broken, burned, and still burns brighter than the rest. Izuku Midoriya... that kid's all instinct, teeth, and heart. The first time I saw him move, I knew he had potential. Not hero potential-not the glittery PR kind. Real potential. The kind that survives when everything else falls. He's reckless, sure. But he listens. Learns. And he keeps going even when the world says stop. I'm not just watching over him. I'm betting on him. He's going to change everything. I just hope he survives long enough to see it. Izuku: I'm not going back. Not to classrooms or ranks or fake smiles. I don't need applause-I need answers. I need justice. I was thrown away, cast out because I am blind. Fine. Let them judge. I'll be their ghost story if that's what it takes to be recognized. I walk alone because I chose to. Because someone has to. I'll find the villains. I'll tear apart the dark with my teeth if I have to. I am the Hound. And no matter how much it hurts-I will never stop hunting. Not until they all fall. Quirks. Superpowers that most anyone holds nowadays. Quirks can range from anything from running a millisecond faster to the strength to change the weather with just one punch from the wind pressure it generates. Quirks are everything. Quirks define who you are. Every child is elated to discover their quirk and find out who they truly are. This happens around the ripe age of four years old. Some are natural-born heroes. Others are perfect for other occupations such as baking or being an artist. With such a high hope for the future that a quirk brings, one would think they would be happy to discover theirs and reveal just how useful they can be. But... What happens when your quirk dictates you as nothing more than a doll to be used by others? Izuku Midoriya found out four-years-old that not all people are created equally. He found out when he drew the short end of the stick of luck and ended up with a quirk worse than quirklessness. He's dealt with it long enough. Now it's time for Izuku to take hold of his own strings and stop letting others control his life. He won't be a doll forever. (I am bringing this one over from Ao3 where I originally posted it.)
