Fierce. Determined. Stubborn. That's Chandler Wallace, the 17-year old captain of Lakeview High's girls' football team.
Belligerent. Cocky. Obsinate. That's Alex Taylor, captain of the boys' football team.
Both are confident and head-strong. Both are the leaders of the school's only undefeated sports teams. And both need to be the absolute best.
Being such revered captains always caused rivalry between the two of them, from popularity to grades, it was always a battle. But no battle was like this one.
When the richest girl in school breaks her leg at a cheerleading competition, her parents pull out all the funding they had put into the school, leaving Lakeview High less than half of what they had been before.
Suddenly, everything's changing. Classes are cut, equiptment is reduced, teachers are fired. But probably the worst part of the whole thing, to the students at least, is that the school no longer has enough funding to support two football teams. They are forced to combine into one, the weaker ones eliminated, leaving the best football players in the school to one team. And the best captains.
The two captains must now compete for the greatest title of all: captain of the entire school's football team.
There will be new friendships, betrayals, and of course, brawls.
In other words, the moment those funds were pulled out, hell was unleashed, and it's time for the biggest battle of Chandler and Alex's lives: the Captain Calamity.

**FAIR WARNING: YOU WILL HAVE TO BE PATIENT WITH CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT, BUT IT IS THERE, AND WORTH THE READ. IF YOU ARE OVERLY SENSITIVE, DO NOT READ THIS BOOK* Logan Pierce and Noah Locke are sworn enemies. Both at the top of their class, holding themselves to the highest standards; both captains of their volleyball teams, Logan as the girls captain, Noah as the boys; and both constantly playing seemingly harmless pranks to get back at one another. Or, at least, they're usually harmless... If one thing is true, Noah Locke and Logan Pierce are not friends. But does that mean they could never be friends? Or transcend their title as enemies? Logan might take things too far sometimes, but there's a reason behind the angry front she puts on, and in order to get behind it, someone needs to show her that there's more to life than being the best at everything. Cue Noah Locke. When the two volleyball teams are sent away to a team bonding camp for a week over Fall break, Logan and Noah must learn to get along for the sake of their teams. Partnered up and made to do activities together and bond, the goal is for Noah and Logan to stop this ongoing feud. And when something happens at the bonding camp that brings Logan's vulnerable side up to bat, Noah is the one who has to bring her back. While Logan and Noah explore something other than hatred for one another, there are secrets and people who could be working in toll to bring them apart. But will they be able to transcend those factors and stop fighting for once? Or were they destined to be enemies forever? "Better Than You" challenges the idea that enemies have to stay enemies forever, and proves that if you don't run away from love, you may just find where you were meant to be.

She'd die for love. He didn't believe in love. *** From reading The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood, to watching 10 Things I Hate About You, to listening to You are in Love by Taylor Swift, Emily Kingsley's life is a sum of moments she has spent after romance. Watching, reading, listening or daydreaming, romance has never failed to comfort this high school junior of 17 years of age. She has her own issues: self-sabotage, lack of focus in studying, randomly popping up acne and not loving the way she looked. But she could forget all that as long as she is reading about two people falling in love and finding their happily ever after. Emily wants a romance for herself too, and she knows just the person for it. Landon McArther, a senior in her school. According to Emily, Landon is handsome, sophisticated, well-spoken and unlike any of the immature boys of her class who didn't get her at all. Landon was everything Emily has always dreamed about and moreover he appreciates her for the person she is. But there's just a teeny-tiny problem. Landon McArther has a girlfriend. While that wasn't in Emily's bingo card, she hopes, prays, and longs for the day Landon will be single (because he is Emily's soulmate, and he has to be) and awaits her chance for romance. At the same time, her seatmate in chemistry, the rumored delinquent, grumpy asshole Nathan Callahan, makes fun of her romantic dreams. Can Emily ever find true love? Completed. Not every blonde is stupid. In the South if you're a beautiful, blonde, blue-eyed girl high expectations are made. Either you're not extremely smart, so you find yourself a suitable husband to take care of you. Or you are smart and you just pretend to be dumb so you find yourself a suitable husband to take care of you. All her life Avery Skinner has been told what to do and how to do it- by everyone. By her mother, the girls she calls friends, the guys in school, teachers, family, even Mark the mailman. Needless to say, she's sick of it. Its time Avery took control of her life or at least get a firm grip on the sucker. She's loved football ever since she was a little girl. Yet she could never play because ladies aren't supposed to do such barbaric things. Especially in the South- unless its a rodeo and you're wearing those ridiculously tight outfits that show you're navel or showing you can hold your liquor. Avery has longed to be on the field, throwing the ball instead of cheering on the team her dad coaches that can't seem to win. Then her best friend Austin forces Avery to and for sometime everyone is fooled. But the truth can only be hidden for so long. The moment the townsfolk of Stonehenge, Alabama learned it was a girl under that helmet, was the moment true colors showed. It hasn't been easy and it won't get any better but Avery is here to play. * Avery is going to face REAL life problems, and not nice people. She's going to deal with sexual harassment, mean words, rude people, pregnancy, injuries, steroids, etc.. In this story I want to exemplify how sexist and cruel humans can be. There will be hard moments, but I want to put it out there because it IS a serious problem. Harsh language and such will be present. You have been warned, don't read it then complain. Finding relationships is easy... Keeping them is the real game. That's what I'm learning in my first one. It's not easy. Our rival schools are an hour apart, my best friend's turning secretive, my parents are controlling, and my brother's still an ass, gearing toward winning the state championship, and still doesn't like my boyfriend, Logan. I get it, they're rivals, and I kinda feel like Logan's team might be better but this season will decide. Being the star rival quarterback's girlfriend brings big rumors and big drama, especially when elements of our pasts resurface - his jaded ex whatevers, and the secrets I thought I'd buried and moved beyond. All of this while I just want to figure out where to go for college and what for. Some relationships will always stand the test of time and distance, while others crumble by the time the high school dust settles. I hope Logan and I are in the former because I'm falling hard for him. Really hard. Forever love hard. Story is ongoing with frequent updates. Please add it to your reading list! Danielle Martin isn't a typical girl in high school. She doesn't wear tight clothes or pounds of makeup, she isn't popular and isn't really a big fan of all the attention. Books and Netflix are her Friday nights, staying home and eating sweets and junk. She's small and vulnerable, shy because she doesn't have the life everyone thinks she does. But that all changes... Now, Blake Daniels is a stereotypical high school guy. Captain of the football team, unbearably attractive, and one of the most popular guys to walk the school. To anyone else, his life is amazing. But to him, it sucks. Family issues and lost battles leave him weak and vulnerable to the ones who want to break him more. But that also all changes... Will their newfound love save them from the struggles they face? Can they survive with all the drama and rumors being thrown at them? It all comes down to one thing in the end. Can they make it together?
