Hypnos was born from the night herself, his cheeks are dotted with stars, his eyes like a golden galaxy. And his tears are made of stardust, tears shed over Zagreus.  

For eons he'd covered up the fact he felt like his immortal life was falling apart around him with jokes and laughter, but you can't hide your feelings forever. Bottle them up too much and eventually they'll come bursting out. Feeling like a disappointment to his mother, a useless worker to Hades and nothing compared to his brothers, he finds joy in the one person who bothers to check up on him every time they rise from Styx, Zagreus. 

But when he sees how close Zagreus is getting with his twin Thanatos, Hypnos feels like he's loosing the only thing he has left. And it gets even worse when one day he starts coughing up poppies, and he knows exactly why.
