STONE IN LOVE is a story spanning two generations largely told through the recent discovery of a shoebox full of old love-letters, and 18 popular, classic songs recorded by the band, JOURNEY. It is based on my novel, "The Shoebox Letters."
1989: The story is told as Sherrie's adult children go through a box a recently discovered letters in an old shoebox. Sherrie tells her children about the letters the morning she is to have open-heart surgery. Knowing that she may not make it, she wants her family to know the story of her and Danny. She insists that her children wait at her house for her, and not at the hospital.
1943: Danny and Sherrie are two teenagers with their lives together planned out. But the night before Danny plans to prospose to her, WWII interrupts his plans. He gets sent to Europe where he serves as a combat medic. Even though Sherrie breaks up with him when he finally tells her he's getting sent overseas, she relunctanly agrees to coorespond with him via mail.
During Danny's time in Europe, he makes and loses friends. He becomes close with a nurse, Betty, who he describes as a woman, "in love with being in love." He also befriends a young man from a rival family back home - a man who comes to his aid when he needs it most.
1989: Back in the States, Sherrie's surgery is on-going. Her anxious children get a call from the hospital telling them they need to come down there. They arrive, knowing the rest of their mom's story with Danny from so long ago.
