Thousands of years ago, a disease spread across the land. Markings appeared on people, little strings tied around one pinky that only that could see, it fascinated people for years. If you followed the strong o found the one with the same mark you became madly in love. It was never known how it came to be, a blessing from the gods, a curse from the land. it became normal to follow the string, to track down through markings before the strings disappeared so did the marks. Panic set in along with panic came war, The men went off and the women stayed home, but suddenly women died in the hundreds, from gunshots and bombings with no bullets or shrapnel found. When the war ended and the men came home they found women with the same marks of battle, that was the new curse for the damage you take to appear on the one made for you. That was the new curse and it never changed back or grew...
