Xiao can't get his mind off of Aether when he looks into his eyes but is ashamed of the feelings because he has internalized hatred for himself. Sumeru collapsed to a corrupt government overrun by the Grand Sage Azar, who toppled the government to its knees in a matter of hours after his prison break.
