In her book, Ten Things I Learned from a Schizophrenic Mechanic, L. M. Kugler states "We don't talk about mental illness nearly enough in our society, not enough about what it's like to be mentally ill, nor what it's like for the families of those who are mentally ill."
In this novella-length work designed for those aged 15 and up, Mrs. Kugler takes readers on a journey through ten different lessons she learned from her father, who was schizophrenic. She uses vivid stories from her life to do so and ends each chapter with a few questions designed to engage the reader with their own autobiographical history.
Through this book, she aims to take away some of the stigma of mental illness by opening the doors of conversation while at the same time, sharing some universal truths we all can benefit from.

I am a woman who shares how my life was like when I developed postpartum and schitzoaffective depressive type there is no telling what the next few phases of my life are going to take to blossom. I entered into many psych hospitals that changed my mentality while losing some ego. I have withstood the limit God put me through and I came out of the struggle. I thank God for letting me see a way out because he always has allowed me to follow him with my entire heart, spirit, mind and my soul. God doesn't let us throw in the towel he holds us with him I know because God spoke to me through the Holy Bible the KJV Romans chapter 8 verse 10 it states "And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the spirit is life because of righteousness." What it means to me is if I have Christ conscious and a will to be like him, God and I are one the body is dead because there's evil in it I am covered completely by Jesus's blood my spirit lives by keeping the righteousness of God in me.
