Ashen was a quiet, diligent boy with a love for drawing, reading, writing, and practicing fencing. Life had been simple for him-until his father passed away. In his father's will, Ashen was given a final, unusual request: to scatter his ashes on the shore of a place called Beach City. Complying with the request, Ashen decides to settle in the small, seemingly peaceful town. At first, he tries to keep to himself, drawn to the town's calm and the promise of solitude. But life in Beach City is anything but ordinary. When he encounters the Crystal Gems-a group of mysterious, magical beings-Ashen finds that avoiding them is nearly impossible. Especially since Steven Quartz Universe, with his relentless kindness and curiosity, takes an immediate interest in befriending him. Caught between his desire for solitude and the pull of new friendships, Ashen must navigate the strange, enchanting world of Beach City, discovering that life after loss can bring unexpected connections, adventure, and perhaps a place to truly belong.
