Most people think of hunting as a barbaric act of killing an animal and wearing it's fur or having the body stuffed and hanging on a wall. While that may be partly true under a certain light in the history of hunting, the hunting I'm referring to is beheld under a total different type of lightning and perspective. True hunting. The struggle between Man and Nature. Where man steps out of his or her comfort zone into an element where they are either no longer the top of the food chain, or they are the apex predator and in some instances, that can change in an instant. Hunting is constant planning and preparing with faith of a successful outcome when oftentimes we are met with failure of a successful harvest but successful in gaining more knowledge of our prey and our surroundings. Most people don't understand why we do what we do and ask if we really wanted a challenge why we don't just join a gym or enter in a 10k marathon. Some of us have and some of us do. But most of us need more. More opportunities and more situations to push us passed our own selves. That's why some of us find ourselves miles into remote territory stalking an apex predator more than four times our size. Or, armed with a speargun and wetsuit several feet deep in shark infested waters in pursuit of tasty and elusive fish and other marine wildlife. What's more, is just being in these wild places alone or with friends is enough for most of us. We cherish the views, the tranquility, the solitude, and the wonder that nature has to offer as well as the bounty that has been set before us as ethical hunters. Most of us will say that there is nothing better than being in a wild and beautiful place in pursuit of a wild and beautiful animal.
