Keloid is a skin condition that has a significant impact on many aspects of the life of those who suffer from it. Keloid scars can appear as a single little spot on the skin or as a series of lesions spread over the body. In certain cases, keloid scars can grow into large skin tumours. Keloid has a genetic component, usually runs in families, and is most often seen in African/African American and Asian populations; nevertheless, it has been documented in people of almost all races. Keloid will appear after a skin injury in a person prone to the condition, which can occur in several ways, such as ear piercing, acne, surgery, chickenpox, etc.
