UF!Alphys created some sort of machine which can travel through universes. Though, if left for 2 hours max, the machine will go back to the Underfell universe, and that was how Red got into this situation.

He had end up in Undertale, the original universe. It wasn't his idea to go into the machine, but a certain accident happened. 

And when he discovered how opposite this universe is to his, a nice, warm and friendly universe made him want to stay there, away from an abusive 'friends'. 

But after all that, separation, and by that I mean... death, is not impossible here.

...Meanwhile...

His brother, Fell, deep down worried for Red, decided he needed to enter the machine with Undyne. The machine had gone back to Underfell as it was left to the maximum time it had.

Her rent increases around that time, and things go downhill. She calls up an old friend of hers from ninth grade, and she settles in as Y/N's roommate. She was nice at first, until she started getting nosey. She wanted to know where Y/N was at all times, what she was doing, or who she was talking to. Y/N was getting sick of her, but she didn't think she could kick her roommate out without losing the house, so she endured her suffering, continuing to look for a job and draw. One day, she posted one of her art pieces on a Discord server, looking for people to commission her, and in the process, she met a certain man named Fell. --- HIYA! IT'S ME! (Adult Lazarus here - I wrote this when I was like 14 years old. Forgive me.) Sometimes life gets to the point where you feel like you're a paper airplane. One minute you're soaring, feeling as if nothing could ever get you down. But then the next thing you know, you're falling slowly and nothing that you can do can possibly help you. You end up falling and crashing into whatever's below you and the heights that you had once reached. Then it starts all over again - becoming a vicious cycle. Someone picks you back up and throws you, making you soar yet again. But then they watch as you fall, not stopping you or saving you from the hard impact you meet with the ground. The process repeats itself over and over and there's no way you can stop it. After all, you're made of paper - you're delicate, fragile. You're thrown, you soar, you fall, you're picked back up, then it happens all over again until you break - becoming bent and broken from your head to your toes. Until you crash so much that you're ruined - then you're thrown away. At those times, you know that you at least have one person who will fix you. He calls you his queen, as any king would whilst in power of the empire you both strive to build together.
