It's easy to leave a lollipop on a rock. Layla did when she saw her best friend, Neveah, at the beach the week before school started. Had she known it would awaken a long-forgotten god of destruction onto the world, she... probably would have done it anyway. After all, that "long-forgotten god" is Uncle Candy, and, even though he creeps out her aunt and Neveah's dad, Layla thinks he's pretty cool - especially since she has a hunch that he's behind the murders of the people she doesn't like. It's their little secret.

Well, it is a secret until Uncle Candy tells Layla he wants to wake up his friends. He wants to start with his best friend, and Layla wants Neveah to have a cool uncle, too.
From there? The kids' friends can all have cool uncles. Uncle Candy's got an agenda to follow, and he ain't picky on how it's done.
