in this fanfic, Travis is trans, or as he calls it "a switcheroo with my gender", since he doesn't know that "trans" is the name of it or that it's a queer thing in general. he has two siblings, his older sister, Harper, and his twin brother, Jacob. Larry and Travis have been friends since Travis moved to Nockfell when he was 4, after meeting Larry he met Ashley. they became good friends quickly. eventually, Larry decided to dress Travis, known as Taylor at the time, up as a boy. so he and Ash did. Travis looked in the mirror and had never felt more happy about himself when he looked like a guy. so he went to his father saying that he wanted to be a boy, Kenneth only allowed him to go through with the transition since he always wanted a boy, but Jacob was a train wreck. he couldn't be the next person to run the cult. so that's how Travis came to be! boo-ya! you guys are gonna cry lmao

Travis Phelps- the homophobic asshole that beat up the outsiders as a way to filter his own self hatred, stuck in an abusive household. He was miserable, gay and being suffocated by the grip of his father's religiousness. Sal Fisher- the new kid in town, the exact thing Travis hated. Gay and transgender, on the outside happy with his life. On the inside, dying from a heart disease and living with a verbally abusive alcoholic father. Both were miserable, though it was hardly obvious to outsiders. They were polar opposites yet the exact same. Brought together by the very same religiousness that was slowly killing them, the two are at first enemies. Though after growing together, they make a decision. They were going to run away. They were going to live how they wanted. Even if it killed them. cross-posted on ao3. this fic does not have a happy ending. don't like? don't read.
