"I didn't mean... I tried to fix it, to-" But the words fell on ears that refused to hear, judgment already carved into the lines of that determined face. The first lunged, limbs moving like fluid lightning, striking with purpose and restraint, testing, not to kill, but to mark the lesson in muscle memory. Sand and sweat mingled, catching in the sunlight, turning their movements into a deadly dance of heat and fury. "Do not speak of redemption," the first spat, voice low and unforgiving, "not here, not to me. Lies are poison, and I will not drink from your hands again." The second staggered, catching the wind, trying to meet the glare that offered neither mercy nor doubt, but only the unflinching demand of honor. And above the chaos of dust and shifting light, the desert itself seemed to watch, indifferent and eternal, waiting for the final choice, the final strike, and the truth carved in the sand like a warning to any who might follow.
"You aren't that bad for a water boy."
"I could say the same for you, forest girl."
