Azeroth had just suffered through the Third War and the minor conflicts that happened immediately afterwards. Stromguarde had fallen to bandits, Ashenvale is a battleground between the Horde and Night Elves, and the two main powers, Horde and Alliance, are staring at each other with hostile intent from many influential members, despite calls for peace.
And now, a nation that has a history of not playing nice is brought into the world, ready to command and conquer the world. Add the sheer technological advantage, and an ideology that is opposed to essentially all the nations....
