Have you ever been to a large room where people gather, talk and mingle? There is a chamber in the heart, called the atrium. That's where he is. He blends in with the red blood cells, and while he is certainly not blood, he carries all the oxygen I need to survive. He might not be the largest vein in my body, like the venae cava, or the strongest muscle or the biggest artery –like the aorta-, but all of that doesn't matter to me. He is mine, as I am him. When he grabbed my hand before, it felt as though I had found a missing part of me. His five fingers intertwining between my five fingers. It was almost as though he could look me in the eyes and hold both my hands and meanwhile, a million sunrises and sunsets could come and go, but I would not tell. Only his eyes, his vacant stare, and the way his fingers could grasp onto mine and protect me. Because the way I see it, I can either learn from today or run from it; but I don’t want to run. I looked down at him, and he peered down at me through broken window frames, ones the colour of brown mahogany. I couldn’t see his eyes in the darkness, but I could remember them, and they were beautiful. His holding gaze created a reverie of sorts in my eye, and I could only stare back in amazement as he hypnotized me the way a magician would to an audience member. Yet this was different; I was part of the show. I didn’t know which way was up, which way was down. Gravity didn’t exist anymore. There was only what was directly in front of me. And it was him. It was always only him.
