The car explosion should never have happened. Frankie Parker had no idea it would happen, that her aunt would be drunk and try to drive her to aid her friend.  But that's what happened. 

 That's how Frankie died.

 Except she didn't. 

 Frankie wakes up in an unfamiliar world with people informing she's the last of a cult named the Magicks, the rulers of the land and claiming to have known her mother and know plenty about Frankie as well. Including her destiny and fate. The girl is confused, wanting to do her part, but also having the desire to go home. 

 That's where Cas Vendetta, professional thief, gang leader, gunslinger, and out of practice telepath and alchemist, steps in. Cas is charming, funny, and daring. And everything else that Frankie wants in a friend.


 The 2 bond quickly, and work together, along with some others to figure things out. For a while, things go well.


 And then they don't.


 Enter William 'Raven' Bloodthorn, right hand man (well, more of a boy) to the Wraith Emperor (an extremely cruel and ruthless ruler with no regard for anyone other than himself). The boy is a part vampire-necromancer and an emotionless monster.

 Raven is determined to hunt Frankie down on the Wraith Emperor's orders for the sins of her mother, and because the girl is the only person alive who can kill him.

 The lad seems not to care for anyone or anything other than the service to the Wraith Emperor. 

 But one thing most tales have failed to tell is the villain's story. 

 Because, in truth, a villain is not born.


 Villains are made.


 Now, Frankie must right the wrongs of her mother, evade Raven, and kill the Wraith Emperor, all while keeping herself and her friends alive.

 And perhaps regain her rightful throne.

His life drastically begins to change though after poison attacks are launched towards the old king and now he is blamed for it. Additionally Avery breaks down, revealing dark secrets he had kept for years. Suddenly the simplicity of his former life is destroyed and every day could mean the end of him. This is a fantasy story taking place in medieval times. There are elements of dark romance to be found. This story includes descriptions of death, gore and mutilation as well as a little bit of drug abuse. The story takes place in a medieval setting, so themes such as sexism, execution, arranged marriages, implied incest and war can be found. Characters go through phases with anxiety, depression and suicidal thoughts. There are vague recounts of voluntary intercourse but implied rape as well. One consensual scene is written out but there will be a warning. "Diary of the Dead" is part of a three part series. This is the first book. I'm currently working on the second/ third (depending on the order one wants to read it). The chapters are comparably short and the language is easy because I'm German and English is my second language.
