Amelia (Amy) Lewis has always been alone in life. She is hated by her family, with the exception of her youngest sister Caillin, and has no friends to speak of. Rumors keep surfacing of a country, Polleo, that is invading some of the most powerful countries in the world--and winning. When her family deserts her and her house is bombed by a Pollean plane, she is left on her own. She seeks refuge in a mysterious but seemingly safe facility with about fifteen other girls living in it. It seems like a paradise at first, but she wonders if she can really settle and have a happy home there, or if the safety of the facility comes with some type of catch. Will Lily get better and go live with her family again or will she remain in a sense of denial enough that her sanity is in jeopardy? This story is told from Lily's point of view but it actually told by another girl with her little comments every now and again.
