This is my entry for the OCN 2023.
Dan had never been to the Adirondacks and thought it was time he remedied that situation. The Adirondack Railroad just felt like the proper way to do it. An avid photographer, he filled his memory cards with images of mountain lakes and woodland wild life. A newly formed, large sinkhole attracts his attention and he takes copious pics. Back home ,reviewing the pics with his girlfriend, the two are shocked at what they find. Is that a dead body? And what are they doing with it? The pair must now return to the mountain village to slake their curiosity.

What Game Will You Play by Bri-Bunny225
37 parts Complete
The New World has been the last peaceful and resourceful country for nearly two hundred years. Or at least that's what they say. Samantha Ivory has been living a boring average life in an old town with lots of history. That is, until the news of a carnival coming to town ignites new excitement. This carnival promises a night of fun for everyone. There are games, promising rewards, and food that no one has ever seen or tasted before. But what if this carnival isn't what it seems to be? And who are these people that have come into her town? Can Sam figure it out before it's too late, or will she get stuck playing a game she never wanted to play? (Currently completed as of October 2023, and finished editing as of March 2024) *****Excerpt***** Excerpt: Instead of seeing myself standing in front of me, there is somebody else and it's not my brother or anyone I know. A boy no older than me is just standing there, he is wearing a gray shirt with a hole in the shoulder and it has a handful of stains and dirt spots on it. I immediately know he is not from Treegrass. Not only have I never seen him before in my life but everyone in our town always wears nice clean and washed clothes, therefore nobody should be looking like him. The boy has a small cut on his cheek and is thin, a lot thinner than he should be. I look away from him and around at my surroundings, there is no one else here. I regain my composure and look at him again. That's when he says something that makes my blood run cold. "Run."

The City Lake

20 parts Complete

Caleb's list of job responsibilities did not include saving his city from a drought. He was as far from the hero type as he could be, starting with muscles and ending with courage. When the ghost hunting club he had joined theorized their plight was due to the paranormal, he went along with it to appease them. No one could predict what he would find on the lakebed, or the path he would have to take to bring water back to the city. --- Word Count: ~20,000 The 2021 prompts #5 and #64 were used in the making of this novella. It was written for the ONC 2021.
