Eggman had been testing a prototype in the area, to see if it was stronger than his previous failures, when he notices a familiar pink hedgette. After a long fight, he eventually takes her back to his main base, where she is subjected to 4 years of torment and experimentation. (This all takes place on Mobius in an alternate timeline, if they had never went to Earth.)
