"Day-Day, do you think it'll all be back to normal when we get home?" Asked my little sister Alesha. "Nothing will ever be the same anymore, after what happened, not even I'll be the same," I reply as a tear trickles down her right cheek. "And it's not over yet, there's more to come, this IS the new normal." A slight smirk stretches across her face, forming cresses under her blue eyes.
"Your funny, of course, it's over, you killed them, remember?" She says giggling. Oh crap, I forgot I didn't tell her that they weren't dead! I look her in the eyes, seeing the instance, the slight spark of hope. I tried as hard as possible to make it look like I killed them, but I'm a terrible liar. So I grab her hand, squees it, and pull her inside. "It's getting late, common."

"Bh...ai.." Avni whispered in a barely audible voice as Ekansh was holding her in his arms. His hands trembled as he saw her drowned in the pool of her own blood. "Avni, you will be okay bachha. Please don't close your eyes . Please beta , I know you are strong" Ekansh said to her gently as he put pressure on her wound to stop bleeding. He ran his hands over his face to calm down his anger and turned his face away from her and said " just don't, don't show me your face Avni". His words felt like daggers to her heart as a sob escaped her lips. What would you do if one second you were struggling to survive with your friends and mother in tow, and then you wake up to find yourself with a group of strangers the next - all during the country's takeover of blood-thirsty zeds? Megan couldn't believe her eyes. Her brain was muddled with confusion she couldn't get rid of, no matter how many times those strangers reassured her and explained what happened. But she had to accept it, even though it didn't make any sense to her. Megan had been with her mother every step of the way since everything turned to chaos, beginning just a year before, and now she was nowhere to be seen. And on top of that, she had the zeds to deal with. Ghastly creatures that used to be human, carrying a virus that's spread through a constant hunger for flesh from the host, spreading through bites and scratches. It didn't exactly make it easy to prevent getting infected. Things could have been worse, though, Megan thought. She could've been left all alone to ponder over her thoughts and fear over the future. It'll only be within the time spent with the new group will she find out that everything's not as happy and welcoming as it had seemed. These people had a few secrets of their own, including the real reason they took Megan in. Striking Lies
It was a rush of hatred mixed with sarcasm that killed her. One bullet to her chest and then another and another, until she slouched her way down to the floor, covering the white walkways with red. Grammar issues are present, particularly missing commas.) What do you do when you are one of the infected? The virus in my blood is trying to steal my humanity. It alters my very thoughts and reactions. It taunts me by tempting me with desires that it planted in my brain. These bloodthirsty desires would lead to my demise if I ever gave in. I have more in common with the zombies than with humans at this point. Even the fallen zombies accept me as one of their own. Blood is required to retain my grip on sanity, but the sweet-smelling blood from humans is a short path to madness. Human blood is to be avoided at all costs. Humankind around the world was driven close to extinction by the sudden appearance of the zombies, yet small groups of survivors constantly manage to appear and put my control to the test. -------------------------- This is a standalone zombie book.
