Issei noticed he had small feelings for Takahiro when they were in 7th grade. His dad was a bit against gays. He had no idea how his siblings felt about gays. Hanamaki's family was called odd because there wasn't a soul in there that was homophobic. Not one. Takahiro noticed he had feelings in 7th grade as well. But the two boys were both in denial.
