LOST IN THE ABYSS

She paced in her room relentlessly hoping to calm her breathing and for the knot in her stomach to go away. Times like these were a serious nightmare for Sally because they made her want to curl into a ball and sleep forever. "This is a good thing. This is a great thing Sally, just relax. It's not that bad", she said, wrapping her hands around her shoulders to comfort herself. No! This was bad, bad! This change could only yield more problems! She needed something to calm her down, she needed her fix. She needed him! With trembling hands, she went for her phone and dialed the unsaved number. She knew it by heart.
The phone rang until it went to voicemail. She dialed it again and the same thing happened, this went on the five that she dialed the number. Why wasn't he picking up? She needed him and he wasn't picking up. Why? Her anxiety only intensified, she gave up on calling him and went straight to bed. Sally covered herself with a blanket and lay there without moving. Perhaps if she stooped thinking and slept it would all end. The voices in her head would stop and she would also stop trying to get out of her own skin. Maybe he would be there.
