This is a spin-off of Kiera Cass's "The Selection" series. The setting is the same, but the characters and storyline are different. You do not need to read "The Selection" first to understand the story.
Addi is content with her life as a Four; she enjoys taking care of her father and working to earn her living. She never believes that she'll get chosen for The Selection--a nation-wide contest between 35 girls. The prize? Prince Elliott's hand in marriage, and the title of Princess of Illéa.
But everything changes when her name gets called, and she is swept off to a foreign life of extravagant dresses, five-star meals, and royal etiquette. Addi is surrounded by girls that she doesn't know how to trust in a life she doesn't know how to live, all while courting a prince that she's not sure she wants to marry.
Addi's confusion only deepens when Selected members start disappearing, and it is up to her to dig up the dark secrets of the castle. But her mission ends up being more dangerous than she ever could have imagined...
Will Addi uncover the culprit of the palace? Will she learn to love Elliott despite his arrogant manner? Will she be sent home early, or will she win his heart and become the Princess of Illéa? "Illéa's Diamond" tells the story.
