When 18-year-old Illya's village burns down during an enemy raid, her entire life goes up in smoke. The woman who raised her is dead, and now so is everyone else. Surviving by dumb luck, she leaves everything she once knew behind to begin a quest of self-discovery. Along the way, she runs into an old rival who knows more than he lets on, and a renegade warrior from the tribe of her enemy. With a 200-year war threatening to consume the land, tensions rise on all fronts as they learn there is much more at play behind the war than they originally thought. The more Illya digs to uncover who she really is, the more questions begin to surface. But what she never considered was how much these answers would cost, and what it would take to save her people. Will she have the strength to defeat the dark forces threatening to destroy everything she loves, or will they consume her?

The Visrel sisters have been reunited, but their lives will never be the same. Seraiah is wracked with guilt for the lives she thinks she could have saved. She is determined to learn more about her abilities and hone her talents so it won't happen again. However, she soon learns that the stronger her visions grow--the weaker her mind becomes. Sterling is now a queen without a kingdom, and she finds herself battling an entirely different beast. She is certain the only one who can explain what is happening to her is Ren, her necromancer friend, but he seems to have disappeared along with the other mages. The sisters' inner demons have come out to play and will put their bond to the test. They will learn there is a fine line between good and evil, and the world isn't quite as black and white as they once thought. ==================================================================== This is Book 2 in The Lost Queen series.
