In an alternative universe, decades before the start of this main story, virtual singer Hatsune Miku and her friends (excluding Len and Rin) were forced to make a promise. A promise to just observe, not to interfere with certain problems. Fast forward to the start of the main story, we learn that there is something different with three of the groups. While as in the original universe those three groups were just singing groups, they are now both a singing group and a mafia.
