Edmund slumped to the floor as it became apparent that his attempts were in vain, and that there was no way back to Narnia. "Please, please just let me go back, for them, let me get back to my love, I need to. I can't leave them behind."
The story of if there were five Kings and Queens of old instead of four. The fifth monarch gets left behind when the Pevensies go back to England and slight angst ensues.

Return to Narnia
Around a year after they have returned from Narnia Edmund falls ill and the doctors believe they cannot save them. A message from Aslan reaches the Pevensies; they can save Edmund if they go to Narnia, for the illness will not exist in that world. All 4 can go, but Edmund will never be able to return, for if he does he will die. When the siblings arrive in Narnia they hear Caspian has called them, for trouble has been stirring. Isabell soon finds out that the professor's stories were more than made up fantasies to help her sleep. And she in the Pevensies find more than they had hoped to in Narnia. Isabell learns more about herself and the blood that runs through her veins. Their lives will never be the same after entering the wardrobe.
