But while she tries to achieve all that, she can never really seem to achieve happiness, and she especially can't seem to ever loosen up. Everybody in her life is always supportive of everything she does, but there is only one person who ever truly challenges her to do anything new: Tom Haverford.

Tom always seems to have these awesome ideas running around in his head, but when he puts them into the world, they fail again and again. He never really seems to guess where his life is gonna go, and he never really seems to have a plan. But his going with the flow mentality can only lead him so far, in a meaningless, directionless life, and he wishes he could be more like his co-worker Leslie Knope: organized, sure of herself, and well adjusted.
