Devon is something between a ghost and a boy. He's a thief, but not a very good one. He would have gotten caught again if he hadn't disappeared.
Rose is normal, as far as she knows. She's convinced she's dead, as she was deathly ill before she awoke in the forest.
They must work together to find a way out.
