Ever since her mutation evolved, Amara promised herself she would live alone in Canada where she could keep everyone a safe distance from her. Her mutation, It, was unpredictable, and she needed to be as separated as possible so no one she loved would accidentally get caught in the crossfire.

She took the first opportunity she had to run and let everyone believe she was dead. It was better that way, anyway, since her friends wouldn't harm themselves trying to help her and could move on with peace. At least, she thought they would.

Amara made a new life for herself. New name. New story. As far as she knew, everything was finally, for the first time in her entire life, going according to plan. 

Then someone knocked on her door.
