Marvel was supposed to be chosen for the 74th Annual Hunger Games-he was going to be a career tribute. He was so sure he was able to win until the Training Centre he has trained at since he was five replaced him with a better competitor. So he could only wait for the next year...A Quarter Quell. This year, Snow has some new ideas. The Tribute ages range from 9-18, bringing in the youngest tributes Panem has seen so far...and what's worse? There will be no volunteers. When his best friend, Blaire is picked they know they will have to fight each other to death. As soon as they enter The Capitol they will have to become ruthless. They will become Careers. However, a Quarter Quell is never simple and it appears to be that there are going to be a few twists and turns up ahead for this years tributes. Perhaps ones that could or couldn't be expected...How far are they willing to go? How will they cope in The Arena? Most of all, what are they going to do when they realise they might possibly be falling in love in the most unexpected of places? ~~~ "Blaire Brooklyn..." The escorts voice booms. My name. It seems like all the life has been drained out of me. I've been waiting for this for over ten years and now it's finally happening. I don't know if it's a dream or a nightmare. The prize is success and bringing pride to my district...The price is that if I fail, then my life will be lost. How do I play this game? I slowly walk to the stage, head held high as I stare out across my district, flashing a quick smile at the cameras. "How do you feel about being chosen for the 75th Annual Hunger Games, Blaire?" My escort, Valentine asks me, practically shoving the microphone in my face. I pause a little, thinking about my response carefully. "It's...a pleasure." I break out into a smirk, staring directly into the camera lens. I know that I've done a good job. I can win this. Ruthless, is my tactic. CREDIT TO: mystifique for the lovely cover :)
