There lingers, out there, those who watch us. Those who tally our acts. Those who balance. Always hovering on the outskirts of Taryn McAlister's dreams, a recurring motherly figure watches on - a corporeal guardian angel, if only a figment of her imagination. But when her illustrious imagination warps into a twisted reality, all her preconceptions of the world are fed to a shredder as she learns that her straightforward, small-town life may not have been the beginning of her story. With the aid of her mysterious Woman in White, Taryn must distinguish the truth of the realities presented to her and why forces much greater than herself feel so threatened by a provincial nobody. ~*~*~*~*~ This story has been a work in progress for a number of years, starting out as a series of rough events that may have been more suitable to a lengthy D&D homebrew in the beginning. Being my first attempt at a novel-length story, I have continuously been rewriting sections, and now, nearly three years from the completion of the first draft, it finally feels cohesive as a story, if not still a little rough. So that is what this is for: a way for me to do one last thorough edit, running from start to finish, with the aim to finally mark this as "complete" in my mind. Both to give myself a sense of accountability and pace myself at the same time, my goal will be to post a chapter once a week.

(ONGOING) I have no memories of my mother. When I was little, I'd have dreams about her. But, unfortunately, I cannot remember much of those dreams anymore. My father doesn't talk about her, it's as if, even after all this time, the grief is still consuming him. Lost in his own grief, he locked away every trace of her and refused to speak of her with anyone. Because I had so few memories of her, I used to ask him about the woman we had both lost, but the old pain would simply overwhelm him anew and the last thing I wanted to do is hurt him any further, so I stopped asking. That was until about a year ago, when I was searching the attic for treasure when I found a portrait of the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. My Mother. Her snow white skin, her blonde, almost a white platinum hair, her smile that seemed to light up the world around her, and my own blue eyes that reflected back at me. Now her face haunts my dreams. I knew that if my father saw it, he would hide it away, just like how he hides everything else. It feels like everything in my life is a secret. My mother, even my own relatives, this house that I was born in. But what scares me isn't the voices I hear at night when I'm trying to sleep. The faint whispers, calling out to me, calling for me. It's not even the feeling of eyes on me at all times, it's not even that my father doesn't believe me. What scares me is the notes I've started finding. - Aisha Stay tuned for a thrilling tale of Mystery, Vengeance, Friendship, Romance and Tragedy. I'm not a professional writer. This story is lacking a bit of detail. Maybe one day if it does good, I'll pay a co-author to fill in but for now, it's going to stay at a High School level. Lol Please don't steal my cover
