This is a book I've been writing. I'll release one chapter a week...it's hard to describe it without any spoilers...but I'll try.
In the crime riddled streets of Port De Lebeau, a city in the island of Belle Croix, black children have been disappearing for years. The people have become numb to the disappearances. But who is taking them and why? The crooked cops? The Marassa? The fabled Mamwati? Nobody knows. Our main character, Simone, however is about to find out that she isn't who she thinks she is. "Shift." His voice hit me like a serrated blade as he stepped out of the crude semicircle of hardened wolves that had formed around me. I pushed myself off of the cold floor for what felt like the thousandth time that day, wiping the small trail of blood coming off of my lip and down my chin. "I won't ask you again."
