The past that binds (Hermione x Draco Fan Fic)

Voldemort is dead. Hogwarts is fixed. New teachers have been hired. McGonagall is now the headmistress. Everyone who worked with Voldemort willingly was sent to Azkaban. Things should go back to normal... right?

The golden trio head back to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry to do their 7th and final year at Hogwarts. Harry is haunted by all the lives lost defending him. Ron is stuck dealing with his own mental health after handling the Horcrux for too long, and the loss of his brother. Hermione has constant nightmares of being tortured, and even when she is awake she has the permanent reminder etched onto her left arm, not to mention the fact that her parents can't remember her. But the trio isn't the only ones having a hard time returning.

Draco Malfoy understands that he is alone. He was a death eater. He helped the cause of Voldemort and even if he did tell anyone the truth, who would listen to him? His dad is in Azkaban serving the remainder of his life. His mother, now cleared of being a willing accomplice, is now slowly dying of a terminal illness. He even debated not returning to Hogwarts, but it was the only place that felt like home. He deals with the constant burning of the dark mark on his left arm, a consistent reminder that his life was never his, until now.
