In Venus's world, telepathy is no rare occurrence. It is, however, an occurrence that is condemned. 

Every year on Collection Day, telepaths, otherwise known as Anomalies, are rounded up by the government and sent away to a place where they are never heard from again. Venus is one such Anomaly, but her powers greatly surpass those of a normal telepath. She's even taught herself to turn her powers off at will, and she's used this skill to escape detection on Collection Day time and time again. But time is running out for Venus. People in very high places are looking for her, and it is only a matter of time before she is found.
