Calithea Vandeleur - the youngest child of the well-known alchemist, Charles Alaric Vandeleur - has wished for nothing more than to be accepted as an alchemist by her father's side. Although her skills are exceptional, whispers haunt her every step with curses of her being a witch. When her father is summoned by the grand duke to help with an illness that has plagued him for year, Calithea takes his place to assist the duke - only to find herself face to face with a beast in human form. The Grand Duke of Kallistar- Drystan Evander Aldrich - has been living in hiding due to a curse that was placed upon him several years ago at his debut celebration. With each passing year, a source for a cure has yet to be discovered, making his temper even nastier than it already was - until word about a particular alchemist reaches his ears. Desperate for an answer at long last, he summons the alchemist - only to receive his daughter instead. As the two pace around each other - one desperate to prove themselves worthy and the other desperate to be free - Drystan and Calithea find they are more alike than they realize. Thus the question forms - can two beings - one of darkness and one of light - truely find happiness, or are they doomed to be divided by their differences forever?
