calling Birdie's parents "traditional" is an understatement. no. Birdie lives in a world of her parents, isolated and controlled. in a cottage tucked into the wilderness far from everything. the only thing she knows is this little hideaway her parents have created. heck she doesn't even know how old she is or what is her last name. but no matter the pounding questions in her brain she cant break the rules. "what would the consequences be of leaving home?" "what's in the forest that i cant see?" "what is father hiding in his lighthouse?"

Unexpectedly, and for the first time, George decides to open himself up to the new boy, Clay, while at the same time, Clay slowly starts falling for his new best friend, George. Mostly fluff with some angst every now and then! ⚠️ I wrote this book from my own experience and my own mindset, as someone with diagnosed autism, highly intelligent and ADHD. I DON'T think people with autism are childish or cute, I'm not projecting a stereotype. This is from my own struggles with autism at a public school without special needs.

"If we lived in the forest we wouldn't have gummy bears any more." I comment to lighten the mood. She doesn't find it funny. "I'm serious Remi! What if we did run away?" "Jen, we can't just run away. I know your parents are strict but I truly think they just want what's best for you." She says nothing. For a moment I fear she's mad at me but then she puts her head on my shoulder and I know we're okay.
