Lloyd finally understood why. 

If anything ever happened to them, the villains would move onto the next threat in line, the lower threat that still formed a threat in their eyes nevertheless. The threat they would only care about if the main threat was gone, because it was such an insignificant and easy-to-exterminate one, compared to the all-powerful ninja. 

The people with close ties to them who hadn't participated in the fight for a reason.
