When a young cowboy comes to corn country, all he's looking for is a paycheck and a man he used to know. After searching up and down the heartland, what he finds is a small town that has its own bad memories of cowboys, and a farmer and his son who won't hold that against him. With no money and no leads, he takes a job with the Walker men, Alan, and his father Noah, for the season, expecting nothing more than a place to rest his head for the summer. 

But when twenty-five-year-old Ray comes into twenty-one-year-old Alan's life, the younger man's world suddenly opens up with possibilities. After spending his whole life tucked away on his family farm, Ray is unlike anyone he'd ever known, and with new experiences come new feelings. Alan begins to think of things beyond the farm, but when the man Ray is looking for suddenly shows up, Alan is suddenly faced with the idea that Ray may not be in his future at all.
