When Jason Carver sees Steve and Eddie together he decides to confront Steve, which leads to Steve getting jumped by his basketball buddies. When Eddie finds out he rushes over to Steve's house only to find him wearing his band t-shirt.

Basically, Steve gets beat up and Eddie loses his mind over Steve in his shirt.
