This story is about a group of  young adults that are one of few groups that explorer the land of earth as the UAN do their best to defend the last bit of humanity  against the fangs, an anthro terrorist group that kill and experiment on humans, but these four young adults have been recognized by everyone from their heroism against the fangs and the UAN that they've been given the name "The pilgrims" after humanity became independent after the UAN struggled to protect humanity, many human settlements have seen the pilgrims as heroes, the UAN respects them. But for the fangs, they're seen as demons that came straight from the lowest point in hell

Michael also known as "Wolf" (because of a patch he wears on his kit and helmet) is a member of what was the 75th Ranger Regiment. He finds himself a veteran of a war between humanity and anthros. While he doesn't exactly hate them he doesn't exactly trust them either despite their efforts to rebuild the relationship between species. Unfortunately a good chunk of humanity and anthro kind was wiped out due to the war. But due to the anthros ability to reproduce faster they were able to recover much faster leaving humanity at a loss. Michael finds himself alone and on the run from a one of the most dangerous anthro militaries (at least to humans), known as the Obsidian Front. They continue to hunt down and kill humans forces despite the end to the war, causing proxy wars and often large scale skirmishes between them and remaining human militias.
