The Revelation
In the beginning, there was death. The darkness flows from hues of purple and orange, the moon rising to kiss the sun's rays one last time as the darkest cloud of night I've ever seen falls over our tiny haven. I catch Will's face from the side of my vision and my heart tightens slightly. The tick of his jaw wouldn't be noticeable for anyone but me. His best friend, his lifeline. A solemn tear forms in my eye as he wipes his face, another tear falling for the family he lost. I love him. Utterly and desperately so, but, there's nothing I can do about that. The ultimate forbidden fruit, if you will. I reach to comfort him and he doesn't respond. I open my mouth to speak and he looks my way, but the gleam in his dark brown eyes hits the moonlight just right and I fall. My voice escapes my throat and I can't do it. I've tried for years to tell him. 10 years, actually. All this time, I hopelessly remained devoted to a ghost who had given the best of himself to a fiery red-head with a sassy personality and the body of a supermodel. For 10 years, I held to the desperate thought that maybe, just maybe, he'd be someone I could count on. Instead, I watched him marry my best friend, smiled as they welcomed their son. At first she was drawn to his service dog, but then it wasn't long before she couldn't keep her mind off of him. Which was good because he had no plans of ever letting her go. Sight unseen, he'd decided she was the most beautiful thing he'd ever met. He knew he had issues she didn't deserve to have to handle. She knew she had a past that he wouldn't want to deal with. But fate had other plans for the two lovers, a blind promise. [Originally written in 2017 for an assignment; expanded and reworked overtime, though eventually I decided this was as far as I was going to go with it. Hope you like it!] As is customary when one reaches twelve years of age, the Order has manufactured your very own Face. As all Faces are created uniquely for the individual, operating based on DNA given to the Order by your kind doctors and physicians, it is required that you wear your Face as often as you can (excluding meals and sleep) to ensure maximum results. Such results, as you may know, include the following: -increased intellect -increase in motor skills/capabilities -drop in anxiety, depression, mood swings...etc. etc. -regulated impulse control to ensure the safety of yourself and those around you -regulated mood to ensure the safety of yourself and those around you * Note that Face technology, while it does improve mental and emotional stability, will not and cannot help or fix physical disabilities, nor can it fix serious mental disabilities. See your local doctor to receive treatment for such ailments, as your Face is incapable of doing so. Your Face, as you may have heard, will be your new identity from this day forward. You cannot go anywhere without it. Damage or loss of your Face or anyone else's Face will lead to severe consequences. Mr. Forgettable
I wanted to let go, wanted to jump. But when I felt my hand release the railing I had been holding so tight, my knuckles turned white, I felt a tender hand grasping mine. My eyes were closed and I was prepared to feel the water hit my body. It never happend. I opened my eyes and quickly turned around, only just realizing someone was holding my wrist with a firm grip. My eyes searched the ones of the other and when our eyes met, I cried. Beautiful green eyes stared right into my soul. They weren't just green eyes. They were all different shades of green. They were the most unique, promising, caring eyes that ever looked at me. They matched with his wavy, dark-green hair. The rest of his face was covered with a thousand freckles and a soft smile. "Are you lonely?" Hi, so I came up with this idea when I was listening to Mr. Forgettable from David Kushner. This story is kinda based on the song, but also not really. It's mostly my own imagination that comes free when I listen to it :). ‼️BE PREPARED‼️ There is an TRAGIC ENDING. NO HAPPY ONE AND IM PROBABLY ALSO NOT GONNA WRITE AN HAPPY ONE (but maybe........ no (maybe) ) This story also includes; suicidal thoughts, self hate, swearing and mental issues, so read at your own risk. There will be warnings at the beginning of the chapters. Currently I'm planning on writing 3-5 chapters (It's a short story, I know :,) ), but maybe that'll change :)))))). Content Warning-This story is meant for mature audiences. It features adult language, references, situations, sexual content, graphic violence, and gore. Fantasy, horror, and science fiction are my favorite genres to read. They are also my favorite to write. I've enjoyed writing since I won my first writing contest in the fourth grade. That was over twenty-five years ago and I haven't shared a sinlge word of it. Imposter syndrome is a bitch! Well, I finally managed to pull the trigger. Here is "O Negative". It's a mix of all of my favorite genres. I've mixed a fantasy, based on present-day Earth, with plenty of graphic horror and wrapped it all up within a world driven by the technological advancements that only can be obtained from millions of years of civilation. A small group of strangers find themselves surviving in a decimated world. It's bad enough to be stranded in a no-name town, but things become surreal when you realize the vast majority of humanity has died...it becomes terrifying when you realize you aren't that lucky to be alive. "Survivor's Guilt" isn't a thing when you find yourself the sole food source for an entire group of beings that no longer need to hide in the shadows. Man is no longer at the top of the food chain...they are now the cattle.
