Helena Zetian is one of the Emperor's many concubines. However though his advisor's keep urging him to produce an heir, he has yet to even choose an Empress. He instead spends all his time on the battlefield, fighting in wars and returning home for a short period of time before venturing off once more.
One night though on the Emperor's biggest night yet, instead of celebrating with the other concubines, Helena stays in her room, dizzy from all the wine. The Emperor wanders into her room and one thing leads to another. The next day Helena feels nauseous. It turns out she's pregnant! Suddenly she is no longer a concubine. A wedding date is scheduled and Helena is rushed into a new and unfamiliar world.
Will Helena and the Emperor make things work and form a functional family? Or will the palace affairs crumble Helena's world?
