Being one of the biggest and advanced Shrine there is at the time, Aridagawa-Tashima was also a place where most Priests and Priestesses were trained, before they decide to transfer to a new Shrine, build their own Shrine with the people, or just do their duty by going on a journey from place to place.

Shinto Priest and Priestesses in this era knows about the existence of cursed spirits. Of how they came to be, and how they can grow. One of the duties they have besides spiritual rituals and healing, is to exterminate cursed spirits.
