"It had been a long time since Aemond had known real fear. So long that he couldn't even recognize the feeling when he came upon the man drowning his betrothed in the bath. 

That fear was replaced with anger. Rage. He had known rage. He knew it well enough to know what was to come next. 

Nothing could stop Aemond Targaryen as he tore the man from Aemma. Aemond did not spare the look of surprise on the man's face a second thought. His fist collided with the man's nose first. Then his cheekbone. Then his right eye. His nose. His left eye."

Aemma Velaryon is the eldest daughter of Rhaenyra Targaryen, the Black Queen. Aemond Targaryen is the youngest son of Alicent Hightower, the queen of the Greens. When they are arranged to be wed, a reluctant but reliant bond is forged. 

Can their love rise above the flames set alight by their parents? Or will the forces at work push them to opposite sides of an oncoming war?
