One day she woke up with no memories of her past, but if there was one thing she knew, it's that she didn't use to be a miniature dragon with stripes on her scales. The scientists that kept her and the rest of her kind captive called them dragonets. What happened to them when the aliens came to take over the Earth and suddenly they were surrounded by more dangers than just hiding their intelligence?

It was a goal she made when she was in middle school. Once she got four scholarships, she would aim for her bachelors, then she would aim for a masters. Other than being the smartest in school, she was very adventurous. She wanted to travel the world and explore things that no one was brave enough to. She was somewhat wild in this way. She was also set on helping animals. She had memorized various types and what they would need depending on her injury. She was always a fighter. No matter what. I dedicate this story as a gift to her and all her readers!* Aspen wasn't the only one to be kidnapped and turned into a dragonet, but she WAS the only one who had a something to hide, outside of their human intelligence. Was my attempt to revise the slower pacing, but I'm not sure how well it worked, but since I put in the work, here it is.) New beginnings are often great things, but sometimes shadows from the distant past come calling. Excerpt: I braced my feet against the wall as I pulled. Suddenly, the lever swung downward. I lost my grip and tumbled backward. I landed on my side and slid across the counter. My legs and tail flailed as I tried to get to my feet or slow down-but I didn't manage it in time. Almost in slow motion, my feet went off the counter as I slid into the air. Without thinking, my wings popped open and beat hard as I twisted, trying to turn right side up so I could fly properly. I blinked in shock when I realized I was already flying upward. Grinning triumphantly, I beat my wings again and went back to the counter. Pleased with my flying abilities, I proudly landed on the counter - and forgot to slow down, which promptly sent me sliding across the slippery surface, lightly colliding with the glass door. I ducked my head sheepishly, glad no one else had seen that. My eyes locked onto the gap between the glass doors. With an eager grin, I pressed my shoulder against the edge and pushed. My feet struggled to find traction, but it was opening! Once I pushed the door far enough, I scampered over to the cantaloupe. It was much bigger up close. "Are you coming to bed firefly?" He says to me laying his hands over my waist joining me in looking over the city. "I want to look out for a little longer if that is alright?" I mumble hoping that he heard me anyways, I wasn't ready to walk into that bedroom, and I don't think I ever would be. "Of course, I'll be getting ready for bed, come in whenever you are ready." He says confidently and walks away leaving my waist cold something for which I am grateful. Especially when my mind burns with other more dangerous thoughts. The warmth that forever lingers in the air, never burning the skin, but always reminding about what is around us. I force air into my lungs feeling the unexpected warmth fill me. He stands in the room watching me even though he said he was getting ready for bed. He is worried about me, about me jumping. I have contemplated it I will admit, but he would stop me before I fell even two feet. I was stuck, and no one could save me. Not even myself, my fucking weak self. His presence is demanding no matter where we are, but right now I could sense everything about him, and I try to suppress the unwanted feelings that curl right under my skin. "Firefly? About done?" He calls out and I release my hand from the guard rail not realizing that as I looked at the lights that covered the shining city with the falling fire in the background that my subconscious was thinking about how nice it would be... how relieving it would be... to just fall. True freedom. I take a step back and wrap my hands together turning around to a fully clothed unchanged man and nod once. started late 2017, completed as of the 27th of December, 2019. it's old and messy but it was my first proper story that I worked hard on and finished :) Tsaganari is almost definitely the last adult dragon alive. All sixteen hatchlings are her responsibility and dragonkind's future. But, these dragonets didn't hatch normally. They're bloodthirsty and animalistic, motivated by primal instinct. They hardly resemble the proud and complex dragons of the past, with intricate societies and ever-growing knowledge. It all would've worked out if it wasn't for humans. Istania never thought her two-week holiday to Iceland would be confusing, much less dangerous. And yet, she ends up being knocked out outside her hotel and re-awakened...in a cave full of dragons, for crying out loud. The world as she knows it has faded, giving way to one that's wild, involving running for her life countless times, flying, and even...relationships.
